Experimental Validation of 40 kW EV Charger Based on Vienna Rectifier and Series-Resonant Dual Active Bridge

This work presents the experimental validation of a 40 kW electric vehicle (EV) charger. The proposed system comprises two 20 modules connected in parallel at input and output. Each module has stages—as grid converter Vienna Rectifier (VR) was chosen, as an isolated DC/DC stage, Series-Resonant Dual-Active-Bridges (SRDABs) input-series-output-parallel (ISOP) configurations were applied. AC/DC stages enclosed 2U rack standard housing. A bipolar DC-link with ±400 V DC voltage employed to connect both charger while charger’s output is dedicated serving 800 batteries. VRs operated 66 kHz switching frequency SRDABs 100 kHz. converters used structure based on silicon carbide (SiC) power devices. description parameters built hardware prototypes both—AC/DC DC/DC—converters are provided. Moreover, each stage whole charging system, including oscilloscope waveforms analyzer measurements nominal power, included. Such configuration enables energy conversion high efficiency without negative impact high-quality waveforms.
